With offices in Italy and abroad, PortoVino looks to offer off-beat and groovy wines from Italy's distinctive wine regions and appellations.

Groovy wines are not blockbusters, they are wines that feel at home, in the groove, with a certain grape variety, place, and producer. Wines singing their own unique song!

PortoVino is teaming up with Musician Paul Cullen "Unplugged & Uncorked" to offer you free music with your wine purchase.

Paul has been a professional musician for 30 years, most notably as the bassist for Bad Company in the early 90's. Now flying "Solo Acoustic, he has just released his 2nd solo CD "Paradise" and is promoting Groovy Italian Wines while playing Cool Jazzy Music.....

Working the details out....

PortoVino:Groovy Italian Wine

With offices in Italy and the US, PortoVino looks to offer off-beat and groovy wines from Italy's distinctive wine regions and appellations. Groovy wines are not blockbusters, they are wines that feel at home, in the groove, with a certain grape variety, place, and producer. Wines singing their own unique song!

The company... was founded by Ernest Ifkovitz and Paul Galioto. From the beginning, we've always agreed that there are people out there, like us, who are curious about the unique artisan wines of Italy offered for a decent price.

Ernest lives in Italy and works carefully with producers there; Paul lives in the US and takes care of distribution. Both skip the pond 3 -4 times a year. It's a partnership  that allows us to bring the hidden gems of Italy to many markets in the USA.

 Our Portfolio revolves around...

...exploring Italy's regions:

For such a small country, Italy has a wealth of regions that are truly different from one another. Each region offers its own eno-gastronomic and cultural traditions, from a hunk of aged Pecorino cheese and Chianti in Tuscany, to a glass of Lagrein from Trentino-Alto Adige with a slice of Speck.

...a broad selection of unique wines:

Some being opulent with rich fruit; others zesty and minerally. Although de gustibus disputandum est, why not be open to the variety of occasions and changing tastes? Our  wines tend to show clean fruit that's not marred by oak. Fruit Bombs and Oak Monsters: Personae non gratae.

...producers who tend the vines, while respecting the land:

This translates into: small producers, no pesticides or herbicides, hand-harvesting, low sulfur, native yeasts, and light or no filtration. We all want natural, chemical-free food? Why not the same standards for the food known as wine?

Many of our producers are certified organic; all are on the road to sustainability.  We also only work with producers who offer transparency in explaining farming and cantina practices. It's an interesting time, and the complexity of sustainable farming and producing quality wine is fascinating. There's still much to explore, learn, and grow from....providing conviviality. It's not fun to drink alone; and all that sipping and spitting will only get you so far. We feel that when a wine is unique, of a certain enological place and time, it's worth being talked about and remembered. We hope our unique wines help bring people together to enjoy themselves.

Once in a while, a wine will just find a groove with you: something about it will  speak to you.
