The condensed version told by myself....
I was born and raised in Buffalo NY, where most of my school years were spent as a jock. I loved sports and lettered in Soccer, Basketball & Tennis. The day after graduating high school our family moved to Leigh Acres Florida, where they bought a Dry Cleaning business. That’s when I made the decision to become a musician, a life long dream of mine. I first picked up the guitar and then by a chance meeting with a Jazz Guitarist (Stacey Boyd) he told me I should play bass because of the lack of them. He turned me on to Jaco Pastorious and the rest was history.
After a 6 month’s of 10 hour day practice, I got my first gig playing with Stacey in a Jazzy Trio called 5th Avenue. And for the next 9 years I played in 12 bands from all over the country, including Alaska. What a wonderful experience to be making a cool living playing music.
Then my life changed completely....I got a call from the legendary band Bad Company, asking me if I’d like to audition for the bass job. Of course, I said YES, and off to London I went. Needless to say, the first couple of month’s were so surreal. I was flying all around the world, shooting video’s in LA to rehearsal's in London and then the first show in Burlington VT, in front of 12,000 people. The next 3 years were action packed, playing 254 shows in front of 2.5 million people.
When that ended I needed a break....As you might imagine it was tough to go back to playing bars and stuff. So for a while I went on a sabbatical from the Music Biz.
Turn to now...
7 years ago I took a friend’s advice and came to Rehoboth Beach DE for vacation. I basically never left. Only time to get my stuff and move here. Of course, it certainly helped that I met a wonderful woman on the last night of my trip. That woman is Bonnie and we’ve since been married and live happily with our doggie's Sasha & Jaco in lower Delaware
With the release of my Solo CD “Dreamdance” in June of ’07 and “Paradise” in June of ’09, my music career is back in full swing. And I’ve added a new chapter to my life, as Eno-Envoy for an Italian Wine Importer “PortoVino.” I finally found a company that understands my passion to make “Unplugged & Uncorked” a household word.
Make sure and watch the progress right here on my website.
Ciao,
Paul Cullen
